2014 Bordeaux while variable in some appellations, is the best vintage in 4 years, following the historic back to back vintages of 2009 and 2010. It’s interesting to review what took place during the growing season, as it was not an easy vintage for Bordeaux.
The quality was better than expected and fortunately for growers, the quantity was up from 2013. Yields were expected to be on average more than 10% higher than in 2013. The long growing season and the beautiful conditions from late September through October are said to have saved the day.
Sustained vanilla and berries
Finely vanilla woody nose on a background of ripe red and black fruits. Balanced palate, pleasantly ripe, with a final tannic presence underlined. We appreciate its fruity density, its material, its rearing retained. Good bordeaux.
